Fishing Operations Module

The Fishing Vessel Operations Module, part of the Navigator Pro 6000 simulator suite, is designed to train deck officers and masters aboard commercial fishing vessels.

competency-based training aligned with STCW standards & fleet-specific operational requirements

Trainees gain hands-on experience in vessel manoeuvring during fishing operations, gear deployment and retrieval, and the use of specialised fish-finding and catch-control equipment — preparing them for real-world conditions across diverse fishing grounds and vessel types.

The module provides high-fidelity simulation of a full range of fishing gear and onboard systems, including:

  • Pelagic and bottom trawls
  • Purse seine
  • Drifting and bottom-set hook longlines
  • Trawl winches and seine winches
  • Longline hauler
  • Fishery sonar
  • Fishing echo sounder
  • Gear monitoring system

Vessel officers are trained in the following fishing operations

  • Fish school search and detection
  • Fishing gear rigging and set-up
  • Safe manoeuvring during gear deployment
  • Fishing gear handling during active fishing
  • Understanding trawl behaviour in relation to gear configuration and component settings
